How to set goals that actually work.

Let’s get creative with your goals and how to achieve them. What will make your heart sing? What will make you want to achieve your goal so deeply that nothing will stop you from right now?

I set my goals out with the word ORANGE – it’s the colour of our sacral chakra, which, when spinning properly helps us to create new beginnings while giving us a sense of groundedness.

  • You must ensure that you know your outcome, where you are going, how it is going to feel, what you will see, what you hear people saying to you and what you will be saying to yourself. Is your outcome a new job, it is to save a certain amount of money, is it to have the ultimate soul mate relationship. When writing your outcome to want to be a specific as possible! Think about – how will this outcome make me feel, what it will look like, what others will say about it and when it will be. Get really detailed.

  • Is your outcome realistic? Can it be achieved in the timeframe that you have set yourself? Is it something that can be achieved? Look at where we are now and where we want to be. Set yourself up for success by setting realistic goals for yourself, this will then motivate you to take the next step moving onto bigger and better things.

  • When you are writing down your goals and dreams write them as if they have already happened. Our unconscious mind wants the best for us, and if these goals and dreams are the things that will make our lives better and more fulfilling the unconscious will do everything in its ability to make this happen. What we put out we will get back. We create our worlds, and what we focus on is what we get. If you focus on fear, you will get fear or more things to fear back, if you put out love, you will get love back. If you put out certainty in self, you will get certainty back.

  • When you are setting yourself new goals, it is important to allow time to nurture yourself to work through changes that are occurring. Let go and trust that what is happening for you is in your best interests. People have said to me, ‘well, that’s easier said than done’. My response, ‘yes, it is, if you keep saying that.’

  • What makes your heart sing? How can you nurture yourself and your dreams while you are walking through life? How can you create sustainable change, goals and dreams so that you are forever growing, giving, living and learning?

  • How are these goals and dreams assisting you to grow?

Everyone has six core needs that when they’re fulfilled, that person is truly happy. Anthony Robbins has said ‘we are all driven by six human needs. These basic needs are not just 'wants' or 'desires', but profound needs which serve as the basis of every choice we make’

So, it is important that when we are formulating our goals and dreams that we include areas where we will grow and contribute, whether it is to ourselves or to others.

Once a month, I will set down with my trusty notebook and answer the following questions.

  • How am I growing? What made me grow last month? How can I grow this month?

  • What am I giving? How am I giving? Who is giving to me? And is it balanced?

  • What am I learning? How am I learning? Am I helping others to learn?

  • What am I loving? Who? When? And Why? And most importantly, do I love me?

  • Is your goal or dream good for you? Is it good for others? Is it good for the greater good? Do you need to change your environment to achieve your goal? Changing your environment is the quickest way to change your mindset and your ability to create positive change in your life.

I've read a lot online about goals setting and how so many of us will write our goals or plans down, but once we've done that, we'll never go back and look at them again. I would love you to make a promise to yourself today to follow these up every month, you'll start to see progress, you'll start to see how the universe is conspiring to help you achieve your dreams, you'll feel more aligned, authentic and light-filled.
